On December 17, 2017, DepEd conducted the Principals’ Test for Caraga at Father Saturnino Urios University, spearheaded by the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD) through DepEd Caraga’s Quality Assurance Division (QAD).

Of the 999 takers, 206 passed or 20.62% of the total number of takers. In terms of position, Head Teacher I has the most number of passers with 66, followed by Teacher III with 40. Over-all, 99 passers were holding teaching positions, while 107 were non-teaching personnel.

Surigao City Division had the best percentage of passers with 40% (20 out of 50); followed by Bislig City with 37.14% (13 out of 35), and Cabadbaran City with 35.71% (5 out of 14).

The Principals’ Test serves as a mechanism for selecting school heads in the public education sector, anchored on the National Competency-Based Standards for School Heads (NCBSSH) as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2010.

To pass the test, takers must obtain a rating of at least 70% in each of the three cluster domains, as follows: Cluster 1 – School Leadership, Personal and Professional Attributes and Interpersonal Effectiveness; Cluster 2 – Instructional Leadership, Creating a Student-Centered Learning Environment;  and Cluster 3 – Human Resource  Management and Professional Development, Parents Involvement and Community Partnership, School Management Operations.
