BUTUAN CITY – 09/17/19
The impact of the twenty four (24) studies under the Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) took center stage during the two-day gathering of researchers and education leaders dubbed as “Pag-Inambitay: Sharing of Success Stories of Researchers 2019” on September 3-4, 2019 at the LMX Convention Center, Bancasi, Butuan City.
Dr. Caroline L. Guerta, Regional Research Coordinator, explained in her opening statement that this event differed from the annual Research Congress since it focused on the tangible results of the studies.
Sharing the stage with their respective School Heads/Principals, the researchers were given not more than 20 minutes to present their work as a video documentary, after which the audience were allowed to ask questions.
“This activity is not just another talk shop,” said Guerta as she highlighted the importance of crafting concrete plans of action to enhance and strengthen existing policies for possible adoption by other Schools Divisions.
After the video presentations on Day 2, the researchers drafted their Commitment Plans, one of which was presented after the open forum.
In her closing message, Guerta informed the participants that BERF spends more than P2,000,000.00 each year for research studies in Caraga, hence, “there must be a return of investment” – not only in conducting research but also in cultivating positive attitude towards research among teachers, school managers, and students.
The regional office, she added, will monitor the implementation of the Commitment Plans in 2020.
