“Revisit the plan, be more aggressive, and be more creative”
— Dr. Beatriz G. Torno, CESO IV

Seven days after the Orientation for International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for DepEd Caraga, on January 4, 2018, during the conduct of the 2017 Performance Review cum Preparation of Plans and Calendar of Activities CY 2018 held on January 4-5, 2018 at the Teacher Development Center – RELC II, OIC-Regional Director Dr. Beatriz G. Torno, CESO IV, directed the regional workforce to integrate their 2018 targets and activities according to ISO standards.

“A family that prays together loves together, and delivers results together effectively, and that is in the name of love for Caraga,” said Torno in her message that encapsulated her vision for DepEd Caraga for CY 2018.
“Dito sa ating OPCRF (Office Performance Commitment and Review Form), I enjoined you to be more innovative and aggressive in placing our targets,” Torno said as she encouraged the regional employees to set their goals high.

“We should try to expand our dreams, and with the money that the government allots to us, I’m sure we can accomplish everything….soar high, build high, so we can accomplish more,” Torno explained. “Alam ko naman, with the papers I’ve been signing I know which division is accomplishing more and which is not accomplishing as scheduled,” she articulated.
More importantly, Torno emphasized that ISO accreditation for DepEd Caraga is necessary to sustain the region’s culture of excellence. “When you revisit our plans tomorrow (Jan 5), make sure that you will integrate your activities and targets for ISO accreditation. We only have six months to finish the process,” she added.

The improvement of the physical structure of the regional office is one factor to be considered, but Torno clarified that it is the systems and processes that will count the most in the ISO accreditation. Addressing the regional leadership, Torno said, “Kayong mga division chiefs po, nakasalalay sa inyo ang success ng ating ISO (accreditation).”
Moreover, Torno challenged the schools divisions of Cabadbaran City, Bayugan City and Surigao del Norte to also apply for ISO accreditation. She also noted the critical role of the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Unit in the entire process.

RD Torno also took the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Gilbert L. Gayrama, chief of QAD (Quality Assurance Division), for passing the CESSBOARD AC. “We should shout to the whole world for his achievement. This is the greatest news that I’ve ever received for the month,” she declared.

In closing, Torno reiterated her intentions for 2018: “Revisit the plan, be more aggressive, and be more creative.”
