Teacher II, ASASHS

On October 28, 2021, DepEd Caraga Regional Director Ma. Gemma M. Ledesma, CESO V, visited Alegria Stand-Alone Senior High School (ASASHS) of Surigao del Norte Division to check on the school’s preparation for the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes on November 15, 2021.
ASASHS is the only stand-alone senior high school identified as “ready” to join the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes. The classrooms are equipped with a handwashing facility, disinfectant, thermal scanners, and other standard requirements set by DepEd and the Department of Health.
RD Ledesma thanked the teachers and the school administrator for rising to the challenge and for making it possible for the learners to go back to school safely.
She likewise encouraged the teachers to be open about their suggestions, comments, and feedback to improve the delivery of instruction in this time of the pandemic.
“Please do not hesitate to open up. We learn from our experiences,” she said.
RD Ledesma said that they will be sending a team to closely monitor the implementation of face-to-face classes.
Meanwhile, DepEd SDN Schools Division Superintendent Ma. Teresa M. Real reminded the teachers during the visit to take note of their observations in the conduct of face-to-face classes as a basis for technical assistance.
RD Ledesma and company went through the process and observed minimum health standards upon check-in in the school premises.
The teachers also demonstrated the steps as these could be the same steps students have to go through on their comeback.
SDS Real told the teachers to make the opening of classes extra special and memorable.
“Let us welcome the students with fun and excitement on their first day,” she said.
DepEd SDN Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Leonevee V. Silvosa, Curriculum Implementation Division chief Dominico P. Larong, and Schools Governance and Operations Division chief Julieta Ranay Virtudazo also accompanied the regional director in the said school visit.
They were welcomed by the District In-charge Marcial B. Cubelo, School Principal III Leodrita U. Jerusalem, General PTA president Arnold P. Dagcuta, district nurse Refsilda R. Gabinete and the faculty and staff.
Editor’s note: DepEd Caraga has 14 schools in Surigao del Norte included in the pilot implementation of in-person classes on November 15, 2021.
