The Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD), led by Dr. Isidro M. Biol Jr., conducted an online 3-day Re-orientation of Intellectual Property Rights on Educational Context of Self-Learning Kits (SLK) on Campus Journalism for Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) via Microsoft Teams last March 15 – 17, 2022.

 

In line with DepEd’s mandate to provide appropriate and quality learning resources to its learners, the activity aims to deepen the participants’ knowledge and understanding of the intellectual property rights on educational content and how to manage 3rd party content using the Inventory of the 3rd Party Content tool. This is to ensure that the SLKs in campus journalism for the special program in journalism comply with the copyright and intellectual property laws.

 

On the first day, Dr. Gemma B. Espadero, Learning Resource Manager from Tandag City Division, discussed the Management of 3rd Party Content. She also facilitated the workshop on its inventory. The presentation of outputs and feedbacking followed, which continued on the second day.

 

During the break-out sessions on the third day, respective SDOs polished their outputs for final submission.

 

The participants for the activity were the Division Education Program Supervisors in charge of the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) and the members of the Development and Quality Assurance Team of Self-Learning Kits (SLK) on Campus Journalism for the 1st to 4th quarter.

 

“The three-day region-led orientation on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the context of education has been a compelling and commendable initiative. It has helped educators produce substantial and credible learning materials in the pursuit of delivering quality education,” said Mrs. Joveth Templado Tampil, Teacher II of Ampayon National High School, when asked about her experience participating in the activity.
