DepEd Caraga Regional Director Francis Cesar B. Bringas delivers his challenge to the PTA Officers and his closing remarks.

Grand Palace, Butuan City – October 11, 2018. The 2-day PTA forum organized by the External PartnershiPs Services of DepEd Central Office together with DepEd Caraga Regional Office through ESSD, formally culminated today.

Education is not the sole responsibility of the school; in fact, it is the primary responsibility of the home. Parents should be deeply involved in their children’s education, which is primarily their responsibility.

The misconception that parents are only called to school because of their children’s misbehavior must be corrected. As we move forward, the schools must call the parents’ attention when the learners have done something great. We should nurture a culture of encouragement, not of criticisms.

Regional Director Francis Cesar “Panchet” Bringas opined that “we send our children to school not just because of good grades, but because we want to build their characters and personalities. We desire to help our learners become independent individuals imbued with a sense of self-worth and – strong enough to stand on their own…while they keep their sense of humanity.”

The regional director stressed that a strong partnership between the parents and schools is pivotal in educating the learners.

Indeed, education is a shared responsibility. “We, the teachers at the Department of Education, will do our part in schools, and we implore your cooperation – parents – to do your share in educating our learners at home”, RD Panchet Bringas said.
