True to its mandate of preserving and promoting Filipino rondalla musical tradition, DepEd Caraga successfully conducted the 2019 Regional Training of Trainers (RTOT) on Rondalla for Music Teachers on February 5-9, 2019 at the Amaris Hotel, Butuan City.
Spearheaded by OIC-Regional Director Francis Cesar B. Bringas, CESO V, through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) under Dr. Isidro M. Biol, Jr., the activity involved more than one hundred music teachers from the 12 Divisions of Caraga.
Highlighting the Opening Program were the special rondalla renditions from two of the biggest schools in Caraga, namely Agusan National High School (ANHS) and Bayugan National Comprehensive High School (BNCHS) whose performances reaped well-deserved applause from the participants.
Mrs. Josephine Chonie M. Obseńares, Regional Coordinator for Music, orchestrated the training. Fifteen (15) rondalla enthusiasts who had participated in the National Training of Trainers on December 4-9, 2019 in Koronadal City served as resource speakers and facilitators. They were Leodel V. Abamonga, Jomar Ballescas, Adam Christian D. Lobo, Ryan D. Alferez, Delbert U. Dela Calzada, Floryfess L. Arones, Renato M. Felias, Ronald Casocot, Francisco S. Deloso, Mercy Burias, Linda R. Gomez, Melba T. Perdezo, Hilarion A. Galido, Joelyn Rosano, and Rustica L. Galbo.
The said training specifically aimed to equip music teachers and potential music teachers from each Division with the necessary skills and knowledge to organize and train Rondalla ensembles in their respective schools to perform in school programs and participate in various competitions in the division, regional, and even national levels.
Rondalla training, as a part of DepEd’s programs under the Youth Formation Division (YFD), aimed to preserve, propagate, and promote local Filipino musical culture and tradition by developing learners’ talent, skills, and love for rondalla music.
